Inside Out @Berlin 2018
Project at Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin
This project mediates between artefacts in museum depots in Berlin and their outside reality. By bringing out the objects from the darken depot, new stories are brought to the museum.
The selected object was taken out of the museum and brought to a body 3d scanner. The digital version of the object is spread online, consists of all necessary information about the production of the object and will deliver this knowledge to future craftsmen to enable endless future re-production, re-interpretation of ancient skills and sharing the knowledge.
In order to create a tension between the public collection of Bröhanmuseum (defined as privately collected, personally structured archive) and intimate space of an individual, residents in Berlin host one artefact of the museum’s collection at one’s home for one day. “Looking for host”-flyers was spread throughout the city in Berlin. The volunteer prepared her home for the special guest to host at her home before she went to museum to pick up herself.
Museum der Dinge
The object was a yellow ring from Istanbul and labled with ‘Unknown’ with lack of information. In different spots in the area of Kreuzberg, the yellow ring performed to collect and to discover their unknown histories. The different portrait photos of the object in the contemporary surrounding still reflects the traces of Turkish migration History in Germany and its current as relicts of the history.
